Often it is when life is at its most painful and confusing, that we struggle to reach out and ask for help.
You being here has taken courage and strength and means you have taken the first step on your journey. Now it's important to find the right counsellor for you! could that be me?
I am a private, accredited counsellor, a registered member of the British association for counselling and psychotherapy. Adhering to their code of ethics and good practice.
I have over 10 years experience of counselling individual adults and young people. I currently do contract work for a local organisation, as well as running my own private practice.
I feel it is life's experiences, both personally and professionally, that put me on the path to becoming a counsellor. I worked in therapeutic roles for 14 years before gaining my counselling qualification.
Listening and bearing witness to all the hurts and pains that life can throw at us, brought to my awareness the need for more than my empathy to support the people that I worked with, to ensure that I didn't unwittingly, do any further harm.
I needed a working knowledge and understanding of therapeutic theories and interventions, to facilitate and support others in their emotional and mental recovery, from difficult and sometimes traumatic life experiences.
It is now with honour, that I get to walk alongside others in their journey of reflection and healing.
I am a integrative counsellor, this means that I adapt my approach to your individual needs and goals.
I offer talking therapy and creative therapy, for both adults and young people. Humanistic is at my core, so your receive a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental welcome, in a relaxed and comfortable setting. With a focus of supporting you in gaining personal insight into your problems, and finding solutions, that makes sense to you!
I promise to provide you with an opportunity to confidentially explore your problems, in an environment where you will feel safe, supported, listened to! and valued!
An opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship in which you can untangle your inner most thoughts and feelings, while feeling accepted, understood and supported on your journey to self-awareness and acceptance, understanding and growth.

How often do I need to come to therapy?
I would strongly recommend weekly sessions, especially during the relationship building stage of the therapy. But all this said, everybody's situation, availability and needs are different. I am flexible and this can be discussed in a 20-30 minuet free assessment session.
What is counselling and how does it work?
Creative therapy, is an opportunity to explore your inner thoughts and feelings in a creative way, using a wide range of media, art and crafts materials, sand, poems, stories, words, puppets and role play.
Creative therapy can be a powerful process, accessing deeper unconscious feelings, experiences and beliefs, that may be hidden from conscious awareness. This method of therapy can be very beneficial and enlightening to adults, as well as young people.
Counselling is a talking therapy, an opportunity to talk freely, hear your self say your thoughts out loud. Untangle thoughts and feelings, explore your problems at a deeper level, and gain self awareness and understanding in the process.
The therapeutic relationship provides a safe container in which you can work through your issues, find your solutions to your problems and move towards a happier, more contented you!
Coping strategies for issues such as anxiety and depression symptoms, can be explored in the form of exercises and activities. with a focus on understanding your own triggers, behaviour, thoughts and feelings, a cycle we can all find ourselves in from time to time.
How will I know if counselling is for me?
I would say " you don't know until you try, you might be surprised!" Why not take advantage of the free assessment session? You have nothing to lose, but perhaps much to gain.
But I would also say " if I'm not the right counsellor for you, it doesn't mean there isn't the right counsellor for you out there. Don't give up, you've come to far!"
